Grad School: What’s In My Bag?

Grad SchoolQuick update:

In the excitement leading up to starting graduate school, I have been sharing a few posts about how I am currently organized / how I plan on being organized during grad school.

Next Monday, I start my time as a graduate assistant.

As much as I would love to keep this series going weekly, I might have to tone it back to once every couple of weeks (to once a month…) until I’m more comfortable with my work load.

Until then, let’s take a look at what I keep in my purse…

I really love the look of Longchamp tote bags, and I nearly bought one (thank goodness I didn’t because they are expensive!).

However, I came across a look-a-like bag at Nordstrom Rack, and was able to buy a large bag and a medium bag for less than the price of one Longchamp!photo 3photo 2 (1)

Anyway, I’m really happy with my new bags and have mainly been carrying around the medium one (which will likely change, come August… laptops, binders, folders, textbooks, etc.).

With organization being the main theme of this series, I figured I would include a “what’s in my bag” post because (I feel) if I know what’s in my bag, I feel assured and put-together (aka organized).

I switch purses fairly frequently depending on the day and what I’m doing (smaller purses for shopping, larger purses/backpacks for work and local travel).

The contents of my purse rarely change (only the purse does), so here’s a list of what’s in my bag:

My OMG, I Wish I had a… Kit

Excedrin (off-brand)

I get a lot of headaches, so this comes in handy. Plus, it’s come in handy for friends and coworkers who get headaches and don’t have any headache medicine on them.photo 2

Snacks / Drinks

For snacks, I usually have a granola bar and some pretzels. For drinks, I switch between water, Dr. Pepper, and iced coffee to go.

My planner

A must-have.

A book

Personally, I find that a book is handy for when I’m waiting on something/someone or for when I need to take a break and get out of my own head for a bit. I’m currently reading the “Cat in the Stacks” mystery series.

My journal

I’m about 86 pages into this new journal. I rarely need it when I’m out, but I always regret it if I forget to bring it.

A notebook

Which notebook I bring varies on what I need. During the school year, I carry a notebook where I keep a to-do list, and sometimes I carry different ones for different meeting topics.

My wallet

My pencil case

Included in my pencil case:photo 2 (2)

-Cell phone charger

-Hair ties / hair clips

So that’s what I usually keep in my purse.

That’s all for this post, but until my next one, what all do you keep in your bags?
