Follow your passion…
What if you don’t have a passion? Then what?
Following my passion is a challenge, since I don’t have one…yet. Instead, I have many interests that I continue to learn about. When I was younger, I had a lot of anxiety about where I was going to go and what I was going to do. Eventually, I accepted that I may not ever find that single, driving passion to propel me into a fulfilling career. Instead, I decided to enjoy the road I was on.
“Continuous learning and growth is key to staying happy and fulfilled in your career over time, according to Valcour.” Gregorire
I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I don’t think I could have a job where, day after day, I would be forced to do the same thing over and over without being given the opportunity to grow. I’ve had those jobs before, and I had to learn to find something, anything that I could take away from the experience.
I’ve become an expert in finding something to learn from every class. Instead of worrying about my future, I embraced my classes knowing I would learn something from them. Did I love all of my classes? No, but I found something I could take away from them.
I know that when I first graduate, I will most likely end up with a job I won’t enjoy much. However, I will apply the same concept: learn from what you’ve got. That idea has pulled me through some of the worst classes. It pushes me forward, and it keeps me motivated. I still don’t have a driving passion, unless, of course, you count my passion for learning.
